Residential corn stoves are a less-expensive and cleaner alternative to heating with natural gas, oil and propane.
They are easy to install and use. Corn stoves require only a dryer vent through an outside wall and usually require less than two hours to install. After setup, simply pour in a 50 lb. bag of corn, light the fire and walk away. It is not necessary to keep an eye on the stove, poke it or constantly add fuel to it. Corn stoves burn for at least 24 hours, depending on the setting selected, which is based on the outside temperature. Corn stoves don't produce messy ashes like wood and pellets do, only a small clump that can be crumbled to enhance any lawn or compost pile. In addition, inefficient fireplaces can be converted with a corn-burning insert. Corn heat exhaust is environmentally safe, CO2 neutral, and non-toxic. No additional carbon by-products are released during combustion into the home or into the atmosphere, which helps eliminate the buildup of greenhouse gases. If corn is spilled, it does not contaminate the soil or groundwater and would not require remediation. Additionally, corn stoves do not require special permits.
